Designed to be cleaner (no spitting) and to give a fresher flavour than other oral tobacco
products, snus was the heated tobacco of the 1820s. Now, almost 200 years later, the
oldest next generation tobacco product lies squarely under the upper lip of a public health
battle, and Big Tobacco wants a bigger piece of the puck. Legal battle to overturn a blanket ban on
snus in the European Union (apart from in
Sweden), and the increasing interest that
Big Tobacco is showing in the product.
