Cigarette use was lower among pregnant women in the United States (8 percent) than among nonpregnant women (14.3 percent) but rates of e-cigarette use were almost identical (3.6 percent for pregnant women and 3.3 percent for nonpregnant women) in a study based on national health survey data. The study included data for 1,071 pregnant and 26,849 nonpregnant women (18 to 44 years old) from 2014 to 2017.
