The UK’s advertising watchdog is investigating whether a series of Instagram posts by British American Tobacco breached rules prohibiting the use of social media to promote vaping products to teenagers.

It is the first time that the ASA has examined the use of Instagram, the online platform owned by Facebook, for pushing e-cigarettes.

Tobacco companies have invested heavily in their e-cigarette businesses, as sales of traditional cigarettes fall across developed economies.
